This plan summarises Advanta Healthcare’s UK greenhouse gas emissions, reduction targets and practical measures to reduce emissions as the business grows.

Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Advanta Healthcare is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2035.

Baseline emissions footprint

Baseline emissions provide the reference point against which future emissions reductions are measured. As Advanta Healthcare was a new entity, its first full reporting period, 2023, has been adopted as the baseline year.

Baseline year 2023

The carbon footprint was calculated using the Carbon Trust SME Carbon Footprint Calculator, the UK Government environmental reporting guidance and the relevant government greenhouse gas conversion factors.

Emissions reporting

Reporting year 2024

The 2024 figures below are provisional estimates prepared by linear interpolation between the reported 2023 baseline and 2025 figures. They should be replaced with measured activity data before final approval or external publication.

Total emissions

Total reported emissions increased by 26.34 tCO2e between the estimated 2024 position and 2025, equivalent to 25.2%. Compared with the 2023 baseline, the increase was 52.70 tCO2e, equivalent to 67.4%. The increase reflects business growth and higher operational activity, with business travel remaining the largest emissions source.

Emissions reduction targets

Advanta Healthcare has adopted the following targets to support its Net Zero commitment:

  • Reduce total annual emissions to approximately 70 tCO2e by 2030.
  • Achieve Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2035.

A target of 70 tCO2e represents reductions of approximately 10.4% against 2023, 33.0% against the estimated 2024 position and 46.5% against 2025. Targets will be reviewed annually as data quality improves.

Carbon reduction projects

Measures implemented and in progress

Advanta Healthcare is introducing operational controls that will help manage emissions as the organisation grows. The main focus is Scope 3 emissions, particularly business travel associated with recruitment activity.

  • Use virtual interviews and remote meetings where these are suitable.
  • Combine international recruitment activity into fewer, better planned events.
  • Coordinate candidate relocation and transition activity across the UK healthcare system to reduce duplicated journeys.
  • Use digital platforms and automation to manage customer and candidate relationships more efficiently.
  • Reduce operational waste in line with the organisation’s ISO 14001 policies and environmental management approach.
  • Encourage agile working to reduce commuting and avoid unnecessary business travel.
  • Review emissions annually to identify further opportunities for reduction.
  • Improve the carbon reporting tracker to strengthen the accuracy and completeness of emissions data.
  • Work with building providers to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy use.

Future initiatives

  • Purchase energy efficient office and IT equipment and use refurbished equipment where appropriate.
  • Increase the use of recycled and responsibly sourced office furniture.
  • Introduce clearer travel approval criteria and favour lower carbon travel options where practical.
  • Engage employees and suppliers through practical guidance, training and regular progress updates.
  • Monitor performance against the 2030 and 2035 targets and publish an updated plan each year.
